Movie day ! :D
THE MIRACLE WORKER_
The Miracle Worker is a 2000 television remake of the two films with the same name from 1962 and 1979.
The movie focuses on Annie’s struggle to draw Helen, a blind, deaf and mute girl out of her world of darkness and silence. Helen has been unable to communicate with her family except through physical temper tantrums since a childhood illness took her three senses from her at the age of 19 months old.
Annie’s job as Helen’s teacher is made more difficult by Helen’s imperious plantation-owner father, Captain Kellerand her overly soft-heart mother, Kate Keller. Using sign language and signing the letters to spell words in Helen’s open palm, Annie makes large strides toward improving Helen’s behavior.
After two weeks, during Helen’s homecoming dinner she begins to revert to her old ways of acting. Annie takes Helen outside to refill a water pitcher she spilled during a tantrum at the pump and the long-awaited breakthrough is made. Helen makes the connection that the words Annie has been spelling in her open palm are in reality the communicative representation of those things in the physical world around her.
With this connection the doorway for communication is opened to Helen, and she can now survive and thrive in the world through the eyes and ears of others.
It was really touched when Helen finally use a sign language communicate with Annie and her parents.
Yeah, if it wasn't Mr. Anwari showed us this movie; i wouldn't watch this type of movie at all. Thanks :P

where sign language tuition central have, but it was fruitless.. :(

yeah ahaha, finished dah, the class was alright, it was kind of boring at first until Mr. Anwari showed us a few optical illusion picture like :
Hmm... I know is too late for doing this "homework" but finally i knew how to create a blog and use it. hahaha
Just had my first Human Communication class last 4 weeks. Haha~ so far, so good. I'm really like the way Mr. Anwari teach! Before this i did not even know about the area of human communication, in my impression human communication is just the skill to communicate with other people maybe? Until i went for this class.
The areas of human communication
Intrapersonal communication - talk with yourself, learn and evaluate yourself and making decision. - Example : we need to talk to our self everyday like "what have i do today?" " have i done right?". # Intrapersonal communication is just for our self.
Interpersonal communication - interact with others, learn about them and yourself and revealed yourself to others. - Its more than one person, and we communicate with other. - We try to understand other person and also let them understand more about our self. # Example : " what is your name?" "my name is Jay."
Small group and organizational communication - interact with people, solving problems, developing new ideas and sharing knowledge and experience. - more than 2 people. - help us complete each other in a group. # Example : when lecture give us a question to do in a group. We need to interact with our group members, give ideas and also sharing our knowledge or experience in order to solving the question.
Public communication - inform and persuade. - We must have a skill to talk in front of public. # Example : public speaking events.
Mass communication - entertained, informed and persuaded by the media like movie, television, radio, newspaper and so on.
Culture and human communication
- culture perspective is understand how communication influence between people. - It communicates effectively in wide variety of intercultural situations. # Example : Malaysia has different races, religion and also culture. We must respect other races, their religion and culture .
The component of human communication
communication context
social psychological context
- mind and behavior
- the relationships among participants and the roles that people play.
- Example : we cannot talk about how happy when we together with our girl/boyfriend when we visit a friend who just break up with their girl/boy friend. (not appropriate)
physical context
- its reflects the space around something and how that influences how we see it.
culture context
-the beliefs, value and ways of behaving that shared by our grandparent and pass down from generation to the next.
# Example : black color is considered a bad luck during Chinese New Year, that's why Chinese do not wear black color clothes during this time.
Temporal context - the time of day as well as the time in history in which the communication take place. - Example : for many people, morning is not a good time for communicate but for some people it's a good time to communicate because they are at the mood to listen to you. source : encode message (speaks, write, gesture) receiver : decode message (listen, read, respond) message : words, text, body language feedback : from listener to speaker feed forward: a pretext to context -example: "I'm sorry to say BUT.." , "you were correct, HOWEVER.."
The purposes of human communication
To help - communicate to help
To discover - personal discovery
To relate- maintain relationship with other
To persuade- to buy, promote
To play - enjoyable, exciting
That's all about this chapter. Before the class dismissed, Mr. Anwari ask us a question. " a group of deaf and mute and a group of blind. How can they communicate? " It took me a while to think about it. my answer is they can use sign language or some alternative form of communication like technology. hahaha~ Anyway, what do you think about this question?
