Using Verbal message effectively _


1. Message/ language can symbolize reality
:- message are often used to represent the things, events, situations or even the people around us.
 Intensional orientation
exp : when people said the product is good because of it's name, you buy it not because it is really good (reality) but because you believe what people said (symbol)
Allness
:- means that you based everything you say or do because you think you know it all.


2.Message/ language expresses both facts and inference
:- message are always infused with our emotions, thoughts, and feeling.
:- this can be misleading at time to the content of the message
Fact inference confusion
therefore, we must be clear that an accurate message must be made up of fact and not nferences
inferential statements
exp : i hate the bright color
factual statements
exp : i love the color red

3.Message/ language can be relative static
:- message or word/ terms use are formed as part of our judgment and perception.
static evaluation
:- the tendency to retain an evaluation despite changes in a person of thing
:-failing to recognize the past does not necessarily dictate the present or the future.
exp : if you are known as a liar a few years ago and you don't lie now, is it still fair to be called a liar?

4.Message/ language can obscure distinction
:-message can be confusing and can over generalize contexts and surroundings, blurring distinction between people, objects and events.
indiscrimination
:- the failure to distinguish between similar but different people, object or events similar to stereotyping.
polarization
:-the tendency to look at the world in terms of opposites and describe in extremes.
